Make Money With Your Passions by Ben Giles

Many of the people that try to make money online often start without the proper preparation it takes to be successful. In any prestigious profession, such as an attorney, doctor, architect, CPA, or financial advisor you are required to go through extensive schooling and training before you apply your knowledge in the real world. The knowledge that you gain before you start is essential to your success.

This also applies to internet marketing and starting your own business online. Unfortunately, there are may people in the internet marketing industry who would leave you believe it's a piece of cake to make money online and it doesn't take anything but confidence in youself that you can jump right into it and be successful.

Now I will say, it is a piece of cake in relation to what you have to deal with on a day to day basis like driving through rush hour traffic, dealing with demanding bosses and working to make money for someone else. The thing is that there are certain steps that you need to follow and mistakes that you must sidestep to in order to guarantee yourself the online success that you deserve.

The fact is that eighty percent of the people will not make a cent online and the other twenty percent of the people will make more money in month than most people make in a year. What is the reason for this?

This is a classic example of Pareto's Principle, which say that eighty percent of the wealth is controlled by twenty percent of the people. But what makes those twenty percent of the people so effective? Well, I am sure that there are a number of different reasons, but there is no way to really know.

One thing I do know is that to make money online and be in that twenty percent that has all the success; you need to possess great Passion around your business and the products and services you are marketing.

Now Passion in this business is basically when you have researched your niche or products and you get excited about them. This excitement will motivate you and will in turn make so called work into rewarding and fulfilling fun.

I will admit that many online entrepreneurs are very talented at Internet marketing and can sell anything very easily. In a sense they can ignore passion for a given product or company because they have so much experience online. But if you are just starting out I would recommend sticking to you passions.

Now, Passion is not the only thing necessary to become successful. You will also need to have a professional website, great marketing, effective media placement, customer support, proper keywords and many other essential factors. These are all things that can and will be learned from the company you join, but if you ignore Passion you will greatly reduce you chances for success.

So get out there and find a company that you are passionate about, start learning and most of all taking action. You passion will motivate you to take the steps necessary to become successful!

Starting an Online Business: It's Important to Be Clear on Why You Are Doing It by Helene Desruisseaux

There are all sorts of reason why you might, and what does it matter, you might ask? After all, isn't online success determined by your ability to get traffic, create a list, and convert that to sales? Figuring out your reason for the business is not on that list.

Fair question.

Why you start the business may not be directly talked about in the "how to start your internet business" courses, but it impacts how you go about building it and the marketing techniques you'll use.

You would handle yourself quite differently if your online activities represent a part-time source of income selling other people's products, than if you want to find consulting clients on the web to fill your practice.

And it would be different again if you want to grow a consulting firm which you will eventually sell to someone else.

The "why" you are in business includes not only money goals, it also involves lifestyle preferences. There is of course the ever present question: how hard do you want to work, and there are other factors to consider such as:

Do you want to be anonymous, or build a personal reputation?

Do you want to partner with others?

Do you want to work with your clients in person, or online?

How much do you want to travel?

Assuming all goes well, how big do you want to get; do you want employees?

Some of the answers will depend on what this business means to you:

Are you motivated by more than money, even more than lifestyle? You might want to be an agent of change in the world, or at least in a little piece of it.

Do you want to finally live your life purpose? (Assuming you know what it is)
Or do you just want more money and you'll find your meaning elsewhere.

You would be wise to also consider your preferences, strengths and weaknesses: do you hate writing, love talking, need the intimate feedback of one-on-one connection, etc.

And we're just scratching the surface!!
This is not meant to be overwhelming, but rather to be a reminder to look within to sketch out your intentions before deciding on specific marketing techniques.

So take a step back and ask yourself: why do you want in starting your internet business?
